  OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental--Families affected by the flooding in Ozamiz City received relief assistance from the local government office.  Ozamiz Mayor Henry "Indy" Oaminal Jr., represented by Vice Mayor Simplicia “Bebe” Neri, recently led the distribution of food items and other needs of flood-affected residents in various villages in the city. The rescue teams from the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Ozamiz City Police personnel and Ozamiz Maritime Police Station were able to rescue and assist the flooded residents from barangays of Maningcol, Doña Consuelo, San Antonio, and Pulot, of Ozamiz City.  Affected residents were safely housed in an evacuation center at Ozamiz City Gym.  Vice Mayor Neri visited the flood victims and reiterated the city government’s commitment to assisting families affected by the flooding due to the persistent pouring of heavy rains brought by the low-pressure area.  “Bisan paman

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental--Some six families, consisting of 24 individuals, that were badly hit by the fire that raged in Purok Rizal, Barangay Bacolod, Ozamiz City received assistance from the Misamis Occidental provincial government. Gov. Oaminal sends aid to flooding victims in Ozamiz

Oaminal responded to the urgent needs of 164 families affected by flooding in some barangays in Ozamiz City through an extended cash assistance and family food packs distributed on Nov. 17 at the Ozamiz City Gym. 164 residents received P3,000 cash each and food packs consisting of six kilos of rice, 20 canned goods, and 20 liters of potable water. The governor also provided sleeping mats and bedsheets. Governor Oaminal said that he want to make sure that the evacuees were comfortable in the evacuation center.   The provincial government of Misamis Occidental has expressed interest in hosting the conduct of Palarong Pambansa (National Games) in 2026. The Department of Education’s Palarong Pambansa secretariat has sent a technical inspection team for an ocular visit, from Nov. 14 to 17, in the province’s sports facilities—in lieu of early preparation for the 2026 national games. MisOcc gov’t, DSWD implement Enhanced Support Services Intervention for IPs

  TUDELA, Misamis Occidental--The provincial government of Misamis Occidental has highlighted the need to push a more comprehensive approach catering to the concerns of the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in the province.  Hence, the Misamis Occidental government has partnered with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to implement Php 4.5 million worth of livelihood assistance for IPs residing in the province’s six municipalities.  Under the Enhanced Support Services Intervention (ESSI) for IPs, the provincial government started the distribution of livelihood assistance to a total of 1,144 beneficiaries on Thursday at the Working Congressman Sports and Cultural Center in Tudela town. Among the ESSI beneficiaries are 236 individuals from Clarin, 344 from Don Victoriano, 43 from Jimenez, 158 from Panoan, 22 from Sinacaban, and 341 from Tudela. Each beneficiary is contracted to work for 11 days in exchange for compensation that will be computed based on the 2023 region

  Misamis Occidental 2nd District Representative Sancho Fernando "Ando" Oaminal has urged the House of Representatives to conduct an investigation into the "series of assassination attempts" against the governor of his hometown province. The House Resolution No. 1401, co-introduced by Cong. Oaminal and Cong. Jason Paredes Almonte, directing an appropriate committee to conduct an inquiry over the killing attempt of Misamis Occidental Governor Henry S. Oaminal on Oct. 15 at Brgy. Lapasan in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. The resolution stated that the governor, along with his entourage, was en route to his residence after attending an official engagement in Clarin when an improvised explosive device (IED) suddenly exploded. Church leader says voice of civilians crucial to achieving peace and order

    Ozamiz Archbishop Martin S. Jumoad urged the people of Misamis Occidental to be vigilant against acts of criminalities in the province. “Makab-ot lang nato ang kalinaw, kaayohan ug kalamboan kung dunay panaglambigit ug cooperation ang atong mga civilian. Logged untoward incidents won’t stop MisOcc prov in celebrating its 94th anniv

  There’s nothing that can stop the Misamis Occidental’s commemoration of its 94th founding anniversary despite the series of untoward incidents logged within the vicinities of the province. Senator Francis Tolentino was unfazed by the incidents as he personally attended the province’s “Kasalan sa Kapitolyo” or mass wedding ceremony held at the Bay Front Arena, Oroquieta City last November 8.   The provincial government of  Misamis Occidental province welcomes  Chess grandmaster Eugene Torre and top players from  Visayas and Mindanao who join  the first-ever Governor Henry Oaminal 8-in-1 Chess exhibition  which kicks off today Nov. 10 at the Ozamiz City Gymnasium. Rey Cris Urbiztondo, director of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) and president of the Asenso Misamis Occidental Chess Association (AMOFCA), said the province hosts the simultaneous exhibition match with Asia’s chess Grandmaster Torre.   OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental—The provincial government of Misamis Occidental will soon conduct its annual “Kasalan sa Kapitolyo” or mass wedding with Senator Francis N. Tolentino gracing the event scheduled on Nov. 8 in Bay Front Arena, Oroquieta City. The annual mass wedding is fully sponsored by the provincial government with each newlywed will also get a free wedding cake and P20,000 cash gifts. CALAMBA, Misamis Occidental---Misamis Occidental Governor Henry Oaminal strongly condemned the brutal killing of a radioman while on duty. “I am disheartened and I am in grief, as I denounce in the strongest terms, the untimely death of radioman Juan Jumalon alias Johnny Walker who was brutally killed while doing his media work,” Oaminal said in a statement on Sunday. The victim was shot to death by an unidentified man at 5:35  a.m. on November 5 inside an announcer’s booth located within his residence at Purok 2, Brgy. Don Bernardo A.   BONIFACIO, Misamis Occidental--The Team Asenso is pleased to announce that the majority of its members—candidates for barangay captains in Bonifacio—have been reelected and gained anew the support of their constituents.
