MisOcc keeps public service in progress through 5Ms thrust for brighter, more refined gov’t works
MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL--Parallel to implementing the primary vision of the
province—the Asenso Misamis Occidental, Provincial Governor Henry S. Oaminal is
also determined about pushing a peaceful, prosperous, and joyful living conditions
for all Misamisnon.
This he believes would become possible through the guidance
of the province 5Ms development thrust—Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon,
Malambuon ug Malipayon.
The implementation of this initiative has been pushed
starting with each village. Here, it is stressed that leaders must stand as
good examples or role models to the people so that they will follow the good
habits promoted.
Looking back, Misamis Occidental was once considered one of
the poorest provinces in the Philippines. In 2003, it ranked seventh, and in
2006, it landed on the tenth spot. However, the place has unshackled itself and
made it out from the list of the poorest provinces, although the province still
logged 18.3% poverty incidence.
The history also tells us that there were areas that have
faced significant challenges in peace and order, such as Ozamiz City. This
locality was infamous for drugs and organized crime groups, like kuratong
baleleng, and was associated with leftists being tagged as rebel-infested.
Notwithstanding this, the Almighty has been merciful and
illuminated the provincial government to provide solutions to the
aforementioned obstacles. When former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte assumed
office in 2016, the drug syndicates and crime groups were dismantled, and
Misamisnons have seen the positive results of that anti-drug campaign.
However, some challenges remain, to wit, the unsolved
assassination attempts on the life of Governor Oaminal, the sniping in Tangub
City on December 21, 2022, which claimed the lives of Mayor Lopez Jaena and
Vice Gubernatorial Candidate Michael Gutierrez, and the recent bombing of the
governor’s convoy in Clarin town which deeply concerned to the people of
Misamis Occidental.
These cases made the public fret, thinking about their
security and the safety of the governor. Nonetheless, Misamisnons have always
prayed that all these would be resolved, and justice and peace would prevail in
the province.
Over time, Misamis Occidental province, under the leadership
of hardworking Governor Oaminal and two representatives, Ando Oaminal of the
second District and Jason Almonte of the first district, has come a long way in
terms of development yet there is still more that must be achieved for the
fulfillment of every human life.
The governor has always emphasized that the true measure of
the advancement of a community could be found in the life of the people, thus,
the province’s enforcement of inclusive programs and projects.
Since his assumption to the office on July 1 this year,
Governor Oaminal was able to implement various initiatives geared towards the
attainment of his 5Ms development thrust, a reform that he would always keep in
public service.
Among the flagship projects and programs that were
undertaken were the provision of cash rewards to rebel returnees, the rise of
Asenso Misamis Occidental Medical Center, free hospitalization program, opening
of Asenso Misamis Occidental Global Gardens, Resort and Aquamarine Park, and
the acquisition and distribution of ambulance units, rescue and patrol
vehicles.
Additionally, in the same period, the administration
likewise realized the development of Migpangi Boulevard and Port,
rehabilitation of farm-to-market roads, construction of multi-purpose buildings
and covered courts, and carried through the Asenso Rice Farmers Full Assistance
Program (ARFFA) and Asenso Pamilya: One Family, One Professional Program.
With a greater reason, Misamis Occidental will persist in
its act of putting its constituents first no matter the threats and bad
elements which try to hamper its noble cause.(SN/PGMO)
