DoH-10 honors COVID-19 front-liners in Misamis Occidental
OROQUIETA, Misamis Occidental--The Department of
Health-Northern Mindanao (DoH-10) on Tuesday honored the unwavering commitment
and sacrifices of the healthcare workers during the COVID-19 health crisis.
In partnership with the Provincial Government of Misamis
Occidental through the Provincial Health Office, the DoH-10 wrapped up the 2023
HRH KAMUSTAHAN SA MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL with the theme “Striking a balance by
integrating the 12S of stress management“ held at MOPAC Grandstand, Oroquieta
City on November 28.
In his opening remarks, MPH Development Management Officer
Dr. Geric O. Entia said the annual activity serves as expressing gratitude to
healthcare workers relentlessly providing health services to the people of
Misamis Occidental.
“Usa ni ka activity sa DOH para ma check nato kung kumusta
na ang atoang health workers nga na assign dinhi sa Misamis Occidental,” he
said.
Dr. Entia cited Governor Henry S. Oaminal’s full support to the
health workers assigned in Misamis Occidental.
“Kami sa DOH dako kaayo ang among pasalamat sa imong
supporta ilabi na sa atong Human Resources for Health nga nag serbisyo dinhi sa
atong probinsya. Salamat kaayo Gov ug Mabuhay ka Gov,” he added.
In Gov. Oaminal’s message read and delivered by Vice
Governor Rowena Gutierrez, the governor emphasized the need for the health
workers “to strike a balance by integrating Stress Management program for
Health Care Workers under the Human Resources for Health of the National Health
Workforce Support System.
“We have heard it many times during our battle with COVID-19
– that our modern-day heroes now primarily include health workers who risked
their lives just to ensure that health services are delivered at the very
crucial time of the pandemic," Oaminal said as quoted by Gutierrez.
Gov. Oaminal also honored health workers and all lifesavers for
their dedication to delivering health services to the people.
The government emphasized the healthcare workers’ vital role in achieving and building resilient medical and health systems that can better respond to health challenges in the field.
“Thank you DOH, IPHO, and to all doctors, nurses, and every
health worker of this province. Continue to give your best service and always
wear your smile as it can be very contagious to your patients facing their own
health battles. Rest if you must; reboot if you need to; destress if you have
to – but never stop because you are carrying with you one of the most noble
jobs in the world.
As the leader of the province, Gov. Oaminal assured health
workers that he is one with this endeavor and he firmly supports the DOH
programs on giving interventions on stress management and wellness programs for
health workers deployed to various health settings.
“Kabahin sa atong pagkab-ot para ang mga Misamisnon
Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon – we need to ensure that those who
serve in the frontlines are also well taken care of and are happy and mentally
stable as they do their jobs,” Oaminal said.
The National Health Work Support System is in charge of the
deployment, redistribution, and retainment of health workers in the province
“to provide better access to quality health services and improve health
outcomes within communities.”
Human Resources for Health consists of nurses, midwives,
medical doctors to the barrio, and medical technologists.
During the event, some 300 HRH, personnel, and staff in
Misamis Occidental participated in the parlor games, basketball, volleyball,
badminton, and 400M relay— such activities are part of the 12S of stress
management and sports fest—improving the ability to healthcare professionals to
cope with challenges at work.
