MisOcc celebrates good harvest, progress with Perangat Festival
OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental--Honoring the bountiful harvest and progress of the province
and its agro-industrial produce, traditions, and tourist attractions, the
province of Misamis Occidental celebrated its colorful culture in the 2nd
Perangat Festival 2023 held at Misamis Occidental Provincial Athletic Complex
(MOPAC) Grounds, Oroquieta City.
The Perangat "Pag-asenso" festival featured the
Subanen Tribe's traditions, culture, beliefs, and a thanksgiving celebration
for the abundance of blessings among the Subanen tribe and Misamisnons.
Perangat Festival could not be possible without the strong
leadership of working Governor Henry S. Oaminal with the full support of the
provincial and local officials.
As the province celebrates the Perangat Festival, Vice
Governor Rowena Guttierez asked for God's guidance and prevent the province
from misfortune and calamity.
“Atong hiusahon ang matag usa kanato dinha sa pamilya,
barangay, local ug probinsya aron makab-ot nato ang tinud-anay nga diwa sa
kalinaw, kaanggayan ug progresibo sa kinatibuk-an alang sa mas paspas nga
pagkab-ot sa atong governor,” she shared.
(Let's unite each of us in the family, barangay, local, and
province so that we can achieve the true spirit of peace, equality, and
progressiveness in general for the faster achievement of our governor)
Despite the challenges of the province, Guitterez shared
that the evil acts were intended and done to intimidate the leaders as well as
to block and prevent the development of the province.
“With the challenges we are facing today, let's pray
together that all of this will be given peace and development despite the
assassination attempt of Gov. Henry Oaminal and the death of my late husband Michael
Gutierrez," the vice governor said.
Perangat is a Subanen word that depicts the province's
tagline towards achieving tourism vibrancy and progress as a whole while at the
same time understanding the Subanen tribe's culture and heritage.
This festival serves as a reminder of the Philippines'
unique traditions and costumes while also providing an opportunity for cultural
exchange and understanding among different communities. Coinciding with the
province vision of Asenso Misamis Occidental and the 5Ms development thrusts of
Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon.(SN/PGMO)
