MisOcc now reaping gains of sustained economic growth
Misamis Occidental Governor Henry
S. Oaminal said the province is now reaping gains from its efforts for viable
economic growth while emphasizing that the provincial government will continue
thriving to further advance the economic activities under his leadership.
Parallel to pushing for
sustainable economic growth, Oaminal said his administration is also keen to
keep the province’s integrity and transparency in the delivery of public
service to all Misamisnons.
In a video message, Oaminal
highlighted the province’s previous achievements anchored to the 5M’s
development goal of Asenso Misamis Occidental: Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon,
Malambuon ug Malipayon.
Oaminal tackled the province’s
agricultural development, wherein it has logged a significant increase in rice
production—from 4.6 to 4.9 metric tons of yields in 2021, it spiked to 5.6 to 6
metric tons in 2023.
The governor also mentioned the
intensified education initiatives in the province which include the launching
One Family, One Professional program being implemented for the school year
2023-2024.
Under the program, about 3,200
grantees enrolled whether in vocational or tertiary education have benefitted
from a provision of a P5,000 monthly stipend throughout the school year
semester.
The province also made major a
leap in the tourism industry with the establishment of major tourist
destination facilities, such as Asenso Global Gardens.
Thus, Oaminal vowed to continue
thriving to attract more tourists to the province. Oaminal sees great heights
after the completion ongoing development plan of Asenso Misamis Occidental
Resort and Aquamarine Park (AMORAP), and other tourist destination projects in
several municipalities.
Oaminal also takes pride in the
improvement in the province’s healthcare system wherein every Misamisnon is
assured of quality medical treatment without going out of the Misamis
Occidental.
“We are in full swing in this
program because these are the necessary programs to expedite the attainments of
our 5Ms development thrust. After all, that is the basic requirement for us to
be living in prosperity,” he emphasized
The governor also boasts the
reduction of crime rates in the province which were attributed to the local
government’s collaborative peace and order initiatives.
"The goal of the
administration is to be a drug-free, crime-free, and insurgency-free Misamis
Occidental," he said.
He also mentioned the province’s
efforts to annihilate if not curtail the insurgency problem in Misamis
Occidental, by urging communist guerilla members to surrender and go back to
mainstream society. Such effort comes with the provision of cash assistance to
rebel returnees.
Oaminal stressed that it is
equally important for the provincial government to also pay attention to the
smallest unit of the government—the barangays.
Hence, Oaminal graced the
distribution of at least 200 rescue vehicles to several villages in the
province.
“Kining tanan atong na
paningkamotan og execute with our same resources’ local resources as before,
ato lang giayo pag-utilize and as a matter-of-fact mas ni ubos pa ang national
tax allocation fund sa probinsya based on the three years annual revenue sa
national government but ato kining nahimo pinaagi sa atong pagtambayayongay, ug
inspiration,” he said. (SN/PGMO)
