Phl Army, MisOcc LGU forge strong security ties, cooperation

 


Misamis Occidental—Major General Gabriel C. Viray, commander of the 1st Infantry TABAK Division, Philippine Army paid a courtesy visit to Governor Henry S. Oaminal to discuss the strengthening of military presence in the province as well as update local government partnership with the provincial government in terms of the security situation in the area.

He was accompanied by the 10th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army Commander LTC Jose Andre R. Monje together with 547th Engineering “Agila” Battalion Commander LTC. Benjamin Carag and G7, Acting Chief of Staff for CMO, Col. Manaros Boransing.

Viray assured Governor Oaminal of the military’s unwavering support to maintaining peace and fostering sustainable development in the province’s communities.

He likewise lauded the remarkable leadership of Governor Oaminal anchored with a clear vision, humility, and good governance. “Parang kayo lang na province ang may ganyan na nagbibigay ng offer (cash rewards) sa former rebels. Maganda yung strategies na ginagawa niyo po sa mga programa and services dito sa probinsya,” he said.

Gov. Oaminal vowed to support and help the Philippine Army in its continuing anti-insurgency campaign by giving cash rewards and sustainability programs to former rebels.

Oaminal and the Philippine Army officials exchanged updates on the current situation of peace and order in the province.  They also discussed the continuous initiatives and efforts of the provincial government to secure a more peaceful Misamis Occidental. 

The courtesy call of the 1st Infantry Tabak Division and the strengthening of the partnership with Governor Oaminal signified the commitment of both the military and local government to closely work in pursuit of peace, economy, and social development in the province. (SN/PGMO)
