Over 3K students get an allowance from MisOcc gov’t
More than 3,000 students have benefited from the allowance
distribution of the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental, through the
leadership of Governor Henry Oaminal, from December 20 to 21.
Student-beneficiaries from different towns in the Misamis
Occidental received a two-month allowance equivalent to P10,000 from the
provincial government.
On top of this, an additional P5,000 worth of Christmas cash
gifts was also given to student-beneficiaries who were residing in the cities
of Ozamiz, Tangub, and Oroquieta, as well as the towns of Bonifacio, Calamba,
Clarin, Jimenez, Tudela, Panaon, Sinacaban, Aloran, Lopez Jaena, Plaridel,
Baliangao, Sapang Dalaga and Conception, and Don Victoriano.
The initiative was part of the provincial government’s
Asenso Pamilya program wherein grantees can avail themselves of vocational or
tertiary education with a provision of a P5,000 monthly stipend throughout the
school year semester.
The financial assistance shall cover essential expenses,
including lodging, transportation, supplies, and other related costs associated
with pursuing vocational or tertiary education.
Gov. Oaminal hoped the program would be sustained until the
end of his term in pursuit of the provincial government’s goal of pushing “more
Misamisnons could have at least one employed professional in their families” by
2026.
“Ang atong programa karon nga para matabangan ang mga
pamilya, ang mga katawhan nga ma professional, makahuman ang atong mga kabataan
og eskwela mao na nga atong gimugna ang One Family, One Professional program
(Our current program is to help families, people to become professionals, and
our children to finish school; that's why we created the One Family, One
Professional program)," Oaminal said.
In a social media post, Oroquieta Mayor Lemuel Meyrick
Acosta expressed heartfelt gratitude for Gov. Oaminal’s unwavering support.
Mayor Acosta cited the governor’s vision under the One Family, One
Professional (OFOP) Program, which has become part of the town’s improvement in
social services.
“Your dedication is transforming lives and shaping a
brighter future for Oroquieta City. Thank you for empowering us to reach new
heights,’’ Acosta said.
The student-beneficiaries also took an opportunity to thank
the governor for pushing such a very educational and supportive initiative for
the Misamisnons.
“Daghang salamat Gov sa tabang sa mga estudyante para
makab-ot namo ang among pangandoy sa kinabuhi para maka-haw-as sa kalisod,” one
of the beneficiaries said.
