MisOcc leaders urge PNP for swift solutions on bombing incidents
Misamis Occidental—The local chief executives in Misamis
Occidental called on police authorities to intensify and help solve the case of
violent incidents happened during the last quarter of the year.
These incidents particularly are the IED explosion involving
Governor Oaminal and his convoy last Oct. 15 and the hand grenade explosion in
the house of Calamba Mayor Jun Villanueva on October 22, 2023.
The Provincial Peace and Order Council held its executive
meeting to discuss the current situation and address the issues concerning
peace and order in the province on December 19 at the Asenso Misamis Occidental
Sports and Cultural Center.
In an open forum, Jimenez town Mayor Joselito Chiong asked
the PNP how long they would expect the incidents in the province will be
solved.
"All the mayors are quandary until now walay solution.
We are given all the facts that you have gathered but again I am just your
mayor, I just knew that you have intelligence funds to buy information that can
help the assessment of the resolution of this kind of incident," Chiong
emphasized.
In his response, Misamis Occidental Police Provincial Office
Acting Provincial Director PCol Dwight Monato said that they do not have a
timeline in solving a case because sometimes putting a timeline would encourage
fabrication on the level of police officers but as far as the PNP is concerned,
they want the case solved as soon as possible.
On the speculations of accusations of “Bomb me” circulating
in social media, Monato clarified that based on their evidences and the
statements of police personnel who were within the area of responsibility in
Clarin, he can say that there is no indication that it is a “Bomb me."
Monato said that the investigating team assured that this
case would be solved and would not be relegated to a cold case.
"I am involved in the investigation. I have already
enlisted the support of my former colleagues in the intelligence community just
to assist us in this investigation so we can give you the assurance that ‘May
pag-asa tayo to solve this case,” he said.
As to the peace and order situation in Misamis Occidental,
Monato said that the PNP is with the local officials in maintaining the peace
in the entire province.
“I commit the entire police force of the Misamis Occidental
Police Provincial Office to carry out maximum security operations to ensure the
security of everyone, the local chief executives and other government leaders
that we had in the province. We are with you and be assured that no harm will
come from us, we are with you in this campaign to maintain peace in the
province,” he added.
Governor Henry S. Oaminal, Chairperson of the Provincial
Peace and Order Council, led the activity. It was attended by mayore, board
members, department heads, and chief of police in the province.(SN/PGMO)
