OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental--As the Misamis
Occidental marks its 94th founding anniversary on Thursday, Gov. Henry Oaminal
said his administration is rallying for better government to provide a
prosperous and peaceful life for every Misamisnon.
In his speech, Oaminal cited the successful journey of the
province’s achievements.
“Today is a triumph for the province of Misamis Occidental.
This is a time to reflect on the progress we have made, the challenges we have
overcome, and the promising future that lies ahead,” he said.
“As we stand in this moment, the joy of birth and the
memories of the years of growth and struggle fill us with pride and a true
sense of accomplishment. Our province
stands tall with its magnificent record of how we reached our achievement as a
province today,” he added.
Oaminal noted that the provincial government has gone
through several trials and surpassed many challenges just to earn progress and
development for Misamis Occidental.
“The road to this happy moment has not been without its
bumps and bogs. As we celebrate today
our anniversary, we are mindful of the different challenges we have
encountered,” he said, referring to various assassination attempts directed at
him during his stint as the provincial governor, with the latest being the
blasting incident last Oct. 15, 2023, that targeted his convoy vehicles.
Oaminal said such incidents won't stop his administration
from providing better services to the people.
He said he was more eager to serve and deliver what was due
to be delivered to the people of Misamis Occidental.
Meanwhile, Oaminal thanked the provincial employees for
successfully implementing the province’s programs and projects intended for the
benefits of the people and for the progress of entire Misamis Occidental.
“Our success in the implementation of our programs and
projects is a testament to the unwavering commitment and dedication of you, our
beloved employees,” he said.
“I, therefore, recognize every contribution that you have
contributed in our journey towards realizing our 5Ms development thrust of
Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon,” he added.
Oaminal also thanked thousands of Misamisnons for helping
the provincial government in “charting its destiny” becoming one of the
progressive provinces in Mindanao.
“Our teamwork and unity have produced the harmony that we
enjoy now. this harmony binds us together. It is the same harmony that is our
guiding light — helping us reach many destinations. This is the same harmony
that strengthened our families and children,” he said.
“This is the harmony that gives the direction where our
communities are moving forward, getting a taste of progress and development.
But most importantly, this is the same harmony where the readiness to extend
generous support to our communities never dries up and never unnoticed and
unreturned,” he added
Oaminal also recognized the recently concluded Barangay and
Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) in the province, which he described as
“orderly, peaceful and safe” in general.
“A total of 46 administration aspirants won out of the 51
barangays, whose victory was not influenced by money,” he said, thanking the
BKSE candidates for not luring the voters with money and being fair to their
other candidates.
He then urged the provincial employees and the newly elected
village officials to continue playing their critical roles in achieving the
province’s development thrusts.
“I therfore urge you all to double your hardwork. dunganan

The Republic Act 11121 designates every 2 November as an annual special non-working holiday for the Misamis Occidental, in honor of the province's historical origins and journey as well as to celebrate the progress achieved since its establishment.(SN/PGMO)
