MisOcc gov’t compliant to OP’s order on Bonifacio mayoral post
MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL--The provincial government of Misamis Occidental said it is honoring an order from the Office of the President stating the need to turn over the mayoral leadership in Bonifacio town.
Following the receipt of the order, implemented by the Department of Interior and Local Government,
MisOcc Gov. Henry Oaminal on Wednesday immediately directed Bonifacio's acting
mayor, Ricky Bulahan, to transfer his functions and duties back to the then-suspended
mayor, Samson Dumanjug.
In an interview, Bulahan said there was a smooth transition
of the Mayor’s Office to Dumanjug.
“A good servant is a good follower whatever the mandate of
the government is they must follow, they must follow it,” he said.
“As early this morning, ato gyud gidawat ang maong order sa
kinasing-kasing gayud ug ato gyud nakita ang right nga opisina sa gobyerno nga
maoy ng serve nato so with that effect willing ta nga mo sunod sa mandate under
the rule of law sa atong pang gobyerno,” he added.
The Stay Order issued by the OP, dated Oct. 20, was received by the DILG on Oct. 24 and was immediately cascaded to the provincial government.
“In reference to the letter of Dir. Wilhelm M. Suyko, dated October 24—pertinent to the undersigned’s request for an opinion, dated October 23— it is confirmed that the DILG is expecting to receive the official copy of the stay execution order from the Office of the President relative to OP-IAD-23-H-012(SP ADMIN CASE NO. 01-23),” the order stated
As a gesture of amity and adherence to lawful orders of the
duly constituted authorities, Bulahan said he immediately released a memorandum
order—informing all department heads, officers, and employees that they are
again mandated to report back to Mayor Dumanjug upon his re-assumption to the
office.
With this development, Dumanjug shall receive all official letters and documents addressed to the Office of the Municipal Mayor of Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental.
The Stay Order acts as a temporary halt in carrying out a judgment. In this specific case, the judgment concerns the Sangguniang Panlalawigan's decision which imposed a penalty of suspension against the Dumanjugs. The implementation of the Order effectively reinstated them in their positions as they await a ruling on their appeal. It's crucial to emphasize that they have lodged an appeal with the Office of the President regarding the Sangguniang Panlalawigan's decision, which is presently under review.(PGMO)
