MisOcc gov vows non-stop service, continuous reform despite attack

MisOcc Governor Henry S. Oaminal convened the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting on Monday, October 23, for updates on the peace and order situation in the province, especially the police report on the attempted bombing incident on October 15.

OROQUIETA CITY, MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL--Misamis Occidental Governor Henry Oaminal said his administration is committed to providing non-stop public service to the people and to continue pushing through the reforms he started for the province amid several challenges that come his way.

“We should not allow this enemy of our reforms to come out as winners,” Oaminal stressed after surviving an assassination attempt last Oct. 15 along the roads of Clarin town.

The governor was recently attacked by unidentified individuals—who planted an improvised explosive device—that exploded when his convoy vehicles were en route home.

He slammed the use of his attackers of an IED—which is prohibited in international humanitarian law.

Oaminal described the attack as “dastard, coward and also barbaric.”

Despite this, Oaminal remains adamant about providing quality public service to his constituents “no matter what the odds may come in the future.”

He renewed his commitment to fulfilling his 5M (Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon) program so that people in Misamis Occidental could have easy access to public utilities and other government services.

“It's challenging our development thrust of 5Ms in achieving our vision of Asenso Misamis Occidental. It is a challenge to our leadership and of course to our law enforcers,” he said.

As he recalled how his enemy targeted his reputation to be tarnished in social media and other online platforms, Gov. Oaminal said, he would remain dedicated and passionate to deliver what the people of the province "deserved to get."

Hence, the governor urged all officials and employees of the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental to remain adamant in providing services to the people.

“Despite the continuing challenges and this increasing security threat let's not be cowards,” he said.

“Let us continue to work harder ug mahimo dungagan pa nato ang atong kakugi para magmadaugon kita sa atong tinguha nga mapalambo, mo Asenso and Misamis Occidental ug ang mga katawhan magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon,” he added.

(Let us continue to work harder and increase our hard work so that we will be victorious in our desire to be developed, we shall lift Misamis Occidental so that people can live peacefully, prosperously, and happily). (SMRN/PGMO)
