‘Kontra Bigay program in MisOcc’ successful, says Gov Oaminal

MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL--The provincial government of Misamis Occidental on Monday announced the success of its ‘Kontra Bigay’ program throughout the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections campaign period.

In an interview over the local radio station DXDD, Misamis Occidental Governor Henry Oaminal said that 80 percent of local government units in the province have shown full support to the program.

The Commission on Elections previously launched the Committee on Kontra Bigay to strengthen the implementation of policies against vote-buying and selling.

”Ato gyud gipaabot sa mga kandidato nga ato gyud suportahan ug ato gyud gipaklaro nila nga ang maong baroganan nga we strongly support the Comelec guidelines (We expect the candidates that we will support them (Kontra Bigay) and we have made it clear to them that we strongly support the Comelec guidelines),’’Oaminal stressed.

Gov. Oaminal particularly mentioned Ozamiz City for fully implementing the program.

"For the first time in Ozamiz based on the report kanato nga 99 percent na achieved gyud nga walay vote buying (99 percent have achieved without vote buying),” he said.

The governor cited the compliance of all candidates over the program saying: “Now there is a great possibility that the people, the ones who will come out victorious are those who have a good program.”

Governor Oaminal also lauded the law enforcers and the Comelec as well as and all teachers from the different polling precincts dedication and extra efforts to secure a peaceful and orderly BSKE.

“Kani atong gibuhat karon is part of our democratic processes ug usa kini ka dakong inspiration ug another lather ug success nga atong makab-ot sa atong probinsya (What we are doing now is part of our democratic processes and it is a great inspiration and another ladder and success that we can achieve in our province),” he said.

Oaminal said the people have matured enough to realize that their right to suffrage should be valued more than any amount of money. (PGMO)
